Tale of a Lost Gringo
03:54
|
|||
I’m going down, down, down to the water tonight
I’m going down, down, down to the water tonight
I’m going down, down, down to the water tonight
I’m gonna swim with the fishes under the full moonlight
I left my home in the bay of San Francisco
I needed a new place to call my own
Well I looked to the east, I looked to the west
Felt the cold north wind then I knew it was the best
For me to head down to old Mexico
I packed my bags and I headed on down the coast
I made friends with every gringo in each pueblo
Well I had some good tequila in a place called Sayulita
And that very same night I knew that I was sold
I spent each night a jumpin’ from bar to bar
Sayin’ that I’d take it easy and then I’d take it too far
One day I said “That’s funny, I spent all of my money”
And I had no other choice but to sell my car
These days I like to call this place my home
But sometimes I guess I do get a little bit lonesome
Everybody’s just so groovy, feels like I’m in a movie
And when the curtain falls they all just up and go
Every night just seems like the one before
Already had this conversation, of that I’m sure
Well I get so bored, can’t take it no more
Don’t even know what I’m standing here for
So I head down to the beach all on my own

Two Parts
03:56
|
|||
I saw somebody in the crowd that reminded me of you
The way the deep curls in her hair framed her face
But I know she’ll never hold a piece of heart that way you do
I hung around for a chance just to meet her
When we got close there was something I could not explain
She had your eyes but the way that she talked was so strange and new
A minute into our conversation I was thinking ‘bout you
Maybe she did look like you
But the things she said just didn’t ring true
No there'll never ever be another one for me like you
Maybe I sound a little trite but it’s science
Two parts they need each other to make a whole
That’s why I know she’ll never hold a piece of my heart the way you do
And I know this kind of love only lasts for the very few
Whenever I start to question this little world with you
I have the very same sensation of my youth
Where am I gonna go tomorrow? Who am I gonna be?
When will I find somebody who really understands me?

On My Way
03:16
|
|||
I’m on my way to feeling like I don’t need a drink
To have a good time with you when the sun goes down
Although it ain’t easy it feels like the timing is right
‘Cause who else is going sing these songs to the baby at night?
We thought it was the city life that was bringing us down
So we packed up all of our things and we moved to a little town
We both agreed that all we really needed was a fresh start
But then we spent just about every night a drinkin’ at the bar
I had this funny feeling inside me in late December
Sayin' “what’s the use in living a year you can’t remember?”
Thinking that one more drink is gonna get you back higher
But then every day you’re just feeling a little more tired
We got real drunk with our friends on Halloween night
That ended with Batman and Eleven having a really bad fight
I said you know I’m done I just really can’t take it no more
This bad feeling like there might be broken glass on the floor

The Way That I Love You
03:10
|
|||
This one is for you
I told you that one day I’d write you a song
I sat down on the morning of your birthday
and it came to me this tune
You were still asleep
Dreaming of a world you’d never know
As winter light crept slowly in your window
To the sound of falling snow
I tried not to wake you
Eager as I was to find the muse
So many feelings flashing in my heart
and in my mind that I could use
What is it about you
that keeps me feeling just so damn secure?
It may not be what me fall in love with you at first
But I know it’s true
Oh I find meaning in the the way that I love you
It makes me feel I’m doing things the right way
And I feel so brand new
Whenever things explode the way they do
And I recall the way I felt without you by my side
I find meaning in the way that I love you
We’ll never drift apart
We always find a way see it through
And maybe we deserve this love
‘cause I’ve been through a lot and so have you
I played for you this song
Emotions hit you like a burning wave
I finally found just the right words to tell you
What I’d been wanting to say

A Conversation
03:48
|
|||
We had a conversation
Well, it lasted the whole night
And when we went our separate ways
It kept going in my mind
She said just what I was thinking
Never had to explain myself
No pauses, repositioning
Like we were both entwined
We had a sudden understanding
That with another takes time
And I just kept listening
As I looked in her eyes
I asked her a question
Just to hear her reply
She told me she didn’t know
Which way the wind blows
She had such an easy way about her
That made me wanna confide
And I told her my dilemma
Beneath the full moonlight
She had some good advice for me
That made me feel alright
And I just kept listening
As I looked in her eyes
I said it’s not easy anymore
And I’m too old to ride this wave again
My attention’s on another darling girl

When I Found Out
03:56
|
|||
You said that you’d leave me
For some married guy
You said thought it was over
But there was something you didn’t realize
It was already over
When I found out
That you had a new boss
I’m not the jealous type
but I knew he was into you
Then I caught you sneaking around
In that strange way you do
And I knew we were through
When I found out
You know that I trusted you
Not to break my heart
You said you weren’t that kind of girl
But there was something I didn’t realize
There was hardly an angel
Behind those pale blue eyes
You really lead me on
But I’m tired of feeling
Like you’re bored of all my charms
If you thought you’d be happier
In those CrossFit arms
But I knew we were through
When I found out
I just wanna to tell you now
That I’ve moved on, you see
You’re just another face
In my news feed
Not worth diggin’ up dirt
That’s something you do
And I ain’t got the time
But I feel so lucky
For having met you
I see things much clearer now
Now that you’re faded from my view
Cause I knew we were through
Yes I knew
Well I knew were through
When I found out
